Just a couple weeks later, Bella had gotten adopted by a wonderful family and Brutus was left behind. He didn't mind though, he had plenty of other friends to hang out with. Both the dog and human kind ;) Brutus was quite treat motivated and caught on quick to the tricks we taught him such as sit, stay, paw and leash walking. One day we were contacted by a group called The Veterans of Foreign Wars who were calling many different rescues and shelters, looking for a dog to pull. They wanted to use the dog as a service dog for war veterans with PTSD. Something smart, food motivated and could pay attention to the trainer or owner in a crowd. We immediately thought of our boy Brutus <3 Fitting all the qualifications quite well, we decided to have him meet their trainer at the Petsmart in Redding, CA during their dog adoption event to see how he would do. Brutus passed all the trainer's tests with flying colors! A few days later, after all the paperwork was processed and transportation arranged, this wonderful boy was taken to Vallejo, CA to begin his training. After a week of training, Brutus was introduced to his new owner whom he would assist. This super smart McNab still has a long way to go in his PTSD comfort training but he is already proving himself a star pupil and is determined to help his new human companion through any troubles he may have. Way to go Brutus! We're so proud of you!!
