Fostering is not the easiest job in the world but it is one of the most rewarding. There are many animals in need of foster care and only a few people willing to let those animals into their home.
At the Trinity County Animal Shelter, we try our hardest not to have to put an animal into foster care but there are times where it is unavoidable. Infant kittens, for example, are ones we must put into foster care. Depending on how old they are when they come in, if they come in without a mamma, they must be fed on a schedule which might be at two, four or six hour intervals. When mamma is present, there really isn't much to do with the babies other than make sure their bed is clean and make sure mamma has access to food and water. Mamma will do the rest. When fostering for us, we will provide all the necessary tools you will need for the animal(s) including but not limited to food, cat litter, leash, collar, toys, blankets, towels and medication. The only things that you really need to provide is love and a comfortable place for the animal(s) to stay. |
Again, we try as hard as we can to not have to place animals into our foster program. If an animal is healthy and of an adoptable demeanor, it will stay at the shelter until it finds its fur-ever home. If we put a healthy and adoptable animal into foster, then the people coming into the shelter, looking to adopt a new fur baby, that animal in foster care will not get the chance to meet those people. Even if the shelter gets crowded with animals (As it often does), we make the room we need for them.
If you want to assist those animals in need of fostering, please give the shelter a call and let us know! We will call you when we have an animal in need of fostering and we will give you all the equipment, advice and information you might need to provide for the animal. Please call us today to be put on our foster list! 530.623.1370 |
