It is the law that all dogs must be licensed in the county that they reside in. If you need a license for your dog, you can get one at the Trinity County Animal Shelter if you live in Trinity County, CA. In order to get a license for your dog, your dog is required to first have a rabies shot. The rabies shot is a vaccine that is only given by a licensed veterinarian and is not sold at stores where the public can purchase vaccines for their dogs. Once your dog has its rabies shot, you can get it licensed!
Does my dog really have to wear the license tag? Yes. Since having your dog licensed is law, it is also law that they wear the tag. They do not need to wear the rabies tag as having a license tag proves your dog has its rabies shot. And yes, even if your dog is a tiny chihuahua or only ever stays inside your house, it still needs to wear the tag. If you need a license for your dog and you live too far away to come to the shelter in Weaverville, CA, you can always pay for your license by mail. Just below is our dog licensing form. If you print that up, fill it out and mail it to us with your payment, we can do the paperwork on our end and mail you your dog's tag. If you have any questions, feel free to give us a call as we will be more than happy to assist you! |
