With the new year comes new updates! We are going to try and post news here more often just to keep everyone up to date since we are aware that not everyone has a facebook page. So, with that, we have quite a bit of updates about our shelter. First, we would like to show off a new fundraiser which was set up by TASA, the non-profit organization who helps us with financial when it comes to the animals at our shelter. If you feel the urge to donate, feel free to do so but don't feel obligated, just sharing the link is more than enough to help! Spreading the word is just as important and just as appreciated <3
Next, our tiny shelter is, once again, INCREDIBLY full!! We currently do not have a single kennel open with multiple dogs in several of our kennels. All of our available dogs and cats are not only on our Facebook page but on our Petfinders page as well. If you are interested in any of our animals, please give us a call at 530.623.1370 to set up either a viewing or adoption appointment. If you don't feel like clicking the links to either page, feel free to watch the videos provided below! Speaking of too many dogs, almost two months ago now we received an influx of nine dogs all from the same location. Their owner unfortunately passed away, leaving all of them homeless, fluffy orphans. None of these kids had much of any socialization when it came to other people so we had to use a large dog trap to catch them and bring them to our shelter where we could care for them, keep them warm and fed on these chilly winter nights. One of them had a litter of five newborn puppies which had to be brought with mom while two of the other females in the pack were so pregnant we knew they would pop any day. Over time, one was friendly enough to be adopted out to a wonderful family while another two others were making enough progress warming up to strangers to be pulled by a rescue. The two pregnant moms had their puppies only a couple short days after coming to our shelter. All the new cousins being just a day or two apart in age, it has been easier on the shelter staff keeping up with the changes in their growth, change of food and different setups of their kennel while they began to explore and start to play. Below is a video on these dogs which are taking up all the rest of the kennels we have for use at our shelter. We are also really excited to announce our current longest term resident, Drifter, finally found a foster! So, we have had this beautiful boy since early September of 2020. He was very timid and shying away at any sudden movement. He eventually opened up to us and was this sweet, loving and playful dog! None of us knew why everyone passed him by, not giving him a chance. We eventually were able to get him neutered and while he was under, the vets tested him for heartworms. We were all stunned when we heard he was positive. This healthy, strong and wonderful dog had no symptoms whatsoever so none of us could believe it. We had searched around for a price quote on treatment for him, settling on the Hyampom Animal Clinic. We had created a fundraiser with a goal of $800 and within just two days, we surpassed our goal, landing at $875! Our next step was to find a foster home to hold him for the duration of the three month treatment as a heartworm requires the animal to be in a stress-free environment. We know from experience that the shelter is not a stress-free environment by any stretch of the imagination. After searching and spreading the word around, almost a month later we finally had someone step forward! As of 01/22/2021 he is currently in their care and will start his treatment in a week's time to give him a chance to settle into his new living arrangement. We will make sure to keep y'all posted to updates on his condition. Our yearly rabies clinics are coming up soon and we are coordinating the dates, time and locations with our local vets. Keep your eyes out for an update on our clinics page but we will post a news post for that here as well as Facebook.
That's all for now folks! We will keep posting news as it occurs.

www.gofundme.com/f/trinity-co-fire-medical-fund-for-injured-animalsAs most of Northern California knows, there have been raging wildfires for the past several months. Many evacuation orders have been placed, occasionally lifted then put back into place again due to the unpredictable nature of these catastrophic disasters. Unfortunately, not every animal has been able to get to safety and so our animal control officer along with our animal rescue team has been going beyond the restricted zones and pulling out injured animals. Every rescued animal has been sent directly to a veterinarian for evaluation and large vet bills have stack up fairly quickly. The Trinity Animal Shelter Auxiliary group who assists the shelter in paying these costs has set up a Go Fund Me specifically for these injured animals. If you would like to assist in helping our furry friends, please considering donating. Any amount you can give will truly be a blessing to the animals. If you cannot, which many can't during these hard times, sharing the link to the Go Fund Me page will also help in a big way. If you would like to donate food or supplies which the rescue team can transport into the evacuated areas, you can bring it straight to the Trinity County Animal Shelter located at 570 Mountain View St. in Weaverville, CA. If you or a family member still has animals in the evacuated zones that you would like to be fed and given water or be checked on, please contact the shelter so we can relay that information to our rescue team 530.623.1370 (This donation fund is currently for the August Complex fire in Southern Trinity County, CA in 2020) www.gofundme.com/f/trinity-co-fire-medical-fund-for-injured-animalsWe know it has taken almost two years for us to get this website off the ground but here it finally is!! We have almost a dozen more pages we want to add but that will come later. For now, we feel we have enough information on here to satisfy our needs for a website. If anyone sees anything they think would help, please don't hesitate to comment with your suggestion or edit! :)
!!!!Attention!!!!
Trinity County put out new recommendations and guidelines for addressing the risk of Covid 19 in the workplace on 3/16/20. To help meet those recommendations the shelter will be closed to the public starting today, 3/17/20. We will be available to do business by phone during our regular hours and will do prescreened, qualified adoptions by appointment. We are asking all volunteers 65+ or immunocompromised to stay home but welcoming our regular volunteers under age 65 for their normal hours so long as we can maintain the recommended social distancing. As always, we have hours available for community service. Our animals come first and their care is the most important part of our jobs but our employees have to be well in order to work. Thank you all for your understanding during this time. Animal Shelter - 530.623.1370 Animal Control - 530.623.8126 --Trinity County Animal Shelter Staff HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! After 10 long months Delilah finally got her furever home!! Thank you for adopting this wonderful girl!❤❤❤❤
Eddie's been adopted!🐾❤🎉
This post comes a couple days late but better late than never. We want to let everyone know that Eddie finally found his forever home and we couldn't be happier. We all will miss him but hope he enjoys his new life in Oregon https://www.facebook.com/826988030776092/posts/1583490345125853/
Let's hear it for Abby finally getting her furever home! And for Lucky Paws fosters for spending so much time working with her!!! Abby came to us originally ready to pop, less than 5 days before giving birth to her 9 puppies. She spent 3 nights in our tub room, on every soft bed and blanket we could find, before the perfect foster stepped up. When old enough, a few of the pups were adopted here and then Lucky Paws was kind enough to pull the remaining puppies and mom, even though Abby had already shown that it might be a long haul for her. We are so proud of her for working with her foster parents until the perfect family came along. There are some things I want to do with the background and this site is not letting me do so. So, to make myself happy I'm posting what I want it too look like since the site is being mean. (The top where our 'Trinity Animal Shelter, bla bla bla' thing isn't supposed to have white there. I was being lazy and copy-pasted it.) I'm also making sure we have pictures in proper places and listing the ones we still need to add as well as missing information. Hopefully we will be done some time before the new year. |
